Introduction:
Danielle Straffi, MA, LPC, ATR is a 2000 graduate of Drexel's Hahnemann Art Therapy program. Danielle has provided therapeutic services to children, adolescents and families in various settings including community based outpatient, child/adolescent partial care and in homes and community settings. Danielle has experience with a range of therapeutic interventions including art therapy, applied behavioral analysis, and evidence based cognitive behavioral therapy models. Danielle has also conducted family and bonding evaluations which have been utilized to assist involved professionals in decision making related to family court proceedings.

Danielle will treat children in conjunction with their parent(s)/guardian(s) between the ages of 3 and 18 who are struggling with behavioral challenges or diagnoses including, but not limited to: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety (including phobias, obsessive compulsive behaviors, social and generalized anxiety) and Depression (including Bi-Polar disorder).

Danielle's approach to working with children/adolescents and families is highly individualized and her interventions are geared toward capitalizing on the strengths of the child and his or her family. Danielle believes that parents are the experts on their children and that their involvement and active participation in treatment is therefore essential in encouraging positive change. Danielle has worked with many families from diverse backgrounds over her 10 years of service provision, during which she has developed a keen awareness of the stress and chaos experienced by families whose children are struggling with behavioral health challenges. Danielle's treatment strategies are always designed with the following goals in mind:

*Improved parent/child communication
*Identification and development of family members' abilities to work cooperatively
*Identification and development of positive coping skills which may be used by the child and supported by the parent(s) to improve the management of intense feelings such as anger or disappointment
*Increased self esteem and social skills awareness necessary to navigate challenging social situations at school and in the community
*Resolution of recent or past traumatic experiences which are likely contributors to behavioral difficulties
*Acquisition of positive parenting strategies intended to create safe, structured home environments in which children are responsible for their actions and contributions to their families
*Improvements in social and academic performance dependent upon exploration and execution of supportive behavioral strategies to be implemented in the school setting
