I became a patient of Bruene Chiropractic in the fall when I threw my back out at work.  I own a siding and gutter business, so when I get hurt and can't work it is costly and I fall behind with my customers.  I had hurt my back in a similar fashion before and my primary care doctor would prescribe me steroids, which helped, but not for about a week.  I needed something better this time.  I had never been to a chiropractor but Dr. Bruene had been recommended highly to me by a friend of the family who went to him for headaches, so I gave it a try.

The first time I went in, Dr. Bruene really took the time to listen to me and make sure we were getting to the bottom of my problem.  I am used to a quick in and out with doctors, but I liked how thorough Dr. Bruene was, and we were figuring out factors of my problem I wouldn't have ever realized.

I would say that I was 75% better after just the first treatment, which had me feeling good enough to go back to work.  I couldn't believe it, but I wasn't complaining.  I think I was close to 100% after 3 or 4 treatments, and Dr. Bruene gave me exercises to strengthen certain muscles and stretch other muscles to keep me from hurting myself again.

The treatments were really thorough too...they usually started with a hot pack and some electric stimulation on my back.  Then we would do flexion-distraction treatments, and the adjustments, followed by some work on the muscles that were causing me pain, kinesiotape, and the exercises I needed to do.  He would give me a lot of advice on things to do at home (heat and ice, plus the exercises) and diet and nutritional advice too on how to reduce inflammation.

As someone new to chiropractic, I really couldn't have hoped for a better experience.  I got results immediately, and only had to go a few times until I was back to 100%.  I would think you'd be hard pressed to find a Chicago chiropractor that would give you a better experience.
