Dr. Pender is a horrible and unethical psychologist. She is friends with Parent Coordinator Jaye Meyer, whom you should stay far away as well. Pender lies and breaks patient confidentiality. She only caters to the parent who pays her and doesn't include the other parent in discussions about your child. During mediation she through me under the bus because "I was difficult to work with and questioned her expertise". The truth is she is such a liar and does not do what's in the best interest of your child. She made my child cry multiple times by putting her in the middle of our custody battle. Also, she over charges, so pay close attention to your bill. This woman is fake, two faced, and very unprofessional. Keep your children away from her. If your Ex wants to hire her, do not consent, even if she agrees to pay for it, because Pender testifies in court all the time. The courts love her because of her credentials. I will be more than happy to testify against her if needed. This email is based off facts not emotions. The person who post positive reviews about Pender either pays Pender or that person isn't in a custody battle.

If anyone is serious about their negative experience with Dr. Pender and her unethical practice, please do what I did and turn her in to the boards. http://ncpsychologyboard.org

My experience of Dr. Pender-Roche is that she pays close attention to detail—like gaining a good understanding of documentation, asking questions, gathering information & coming to conclusions based on professional training and knowledge. She seeks more information when she needs it— all of this the very definition of professional competence.

I think it's fair to mention that anyone who does evaluations and recommendations for contentious situations like the ones she takes on is likely going to have an unhappy party. If the parties involved could have worked out their differences they would not not be involved with the types of skill set therapists like Dr. Pender-Roche possess. I'd just suggest looking out for reviews that are emotionally driven with things like mind-reading (like saying they know what she's thinking or her motivations) and a lack of actual examples to back up what they are saying.

I would highly recommend her.

Would NEVER recommend her counsel to anyone. Unprofessional, Condescending and Patronizing. Does not seek evidence and ignores it when it is presented to her. Very arrogant about her authority. Creates a divisive relationship between parent and child and encourages children to have a secretive relationship with her in which the parent is not allowed to participate.

my grandchildren have been exposed to a father that kicks his dog, when picking up the children, if he is angry,he drives at dangerous speeds, swears, and screams at other drivers. Forces them to exercise beyond their capabilities.  Denigrates their school grades.(A's and B"s) Refuses to take them or allow them to play  sports or school activities when he has them. saying its MY Time.  Then complains to the counselor that their mother is making them not like him.  Mother makes sure they buy him presents for Christmas, Birthday and Fathers day.
Mother has invited him into her home  on several occasions, to see their environment, He consistently refuses.
The children complain that while with him, he drinks  and then falls asleep.
The children do not want to visit their father, and do not even want to talk to him, this situation is deteriorating.
The children tell me that they have told all this to the counselor (Pender) but she gives no progress reports on them. Her recommendation is that they be made to call him "DADDY"

We have been seeing Dr. Roche for several years for our child. She is a member of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists that includes neurologists, a developmental pediatrician, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and a Special Education teacher. She has always been the central point of communications for coordinating behavioral therapy and helping us understand the behaviors we see in our child. He has made amazing gains over the past few years and much of that is directly attributable to her helping us strategize and devise responses to our child's behavior and medical issues. We've been able to go from be reactive to getting in front of him and guiding him to appropriate behaviors. We would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a child psychologist/neuropsychologist.
