DO NOT go to this doctor. A very close friend of mine who is very responsible, sweet, and trusting started seeing her about 4 months ago. During his first session he told her he wanted to make sure his insurance would cover it as he was still paying off student loans and she said "oh yeah, I'm pretty sure someone told me you're covered" and her website even confirmed that she accepted his insurance. She then continued to take his co-pay for the next FOUR MONTHS, leading him to believe that she was treating it as though his insurance was paying her the rest. She apparently got very behind on billing her insurance carriers and didn't realize until FOUR months in that his insurance didn't cover her and expected him to pay her full price for the 16 weekly sessions he had gone to her for. He made it clear from the beginning he could only see her if his insurance covered it and she completely conned him. Definitely not a good business practice for her. Because she makes a lot of money and can afford the luxury of getting four months behind in collected dues from insurance companies HE had to pay get the short end of the stick. It would have been one thing if a month in she had realized this - that would be fair - but four months and expecting him to pay you thousands of dollars? Aside from her behind shady in this sense, he also expressed that during most of their sessions she would literally say 10 words during the entire hour. He felt like he was talking to a wall…. to the point where he literally asked her at one point why she never spoke back to him and she explained it was "part of the therapy" - which I get, every therapist has a different approach, but saying 10 things and giving no feedback can be frustrating. So, if she tells you that your insurance covers it be sure to call and triple check…… and only go through the process if you're just looking for someone to sit there and watch you talk. If that's your thing, then this is the lady for you. Also, the worst part of this is that she spent 16 sessions with my friend making him feel like she was invested, then the second she realized that his insurance didn't cover him, she demanded her thousands of dollars and then didn't really care what happened because he would then start paying her on a sliding scale (which her website says she does), but she just took the next person in line who's insurance would pay her the full price without much care for the position she left him in.
