Dr. Monroe looked disheveled as he walked down the hallway to greet my wife and me. My first impression was "I hope that's not him". His shirt was wrinkled and seemed like one he had since high school.
Nevertheless, I put that aside and figured he must really be great at what he does.
My wife and I were there for couples therapy.
The first ten minutes of our time was spent with his chatter about his personal life and the building management or lack thereof.
When we began our session, I felt that he was not very interested in what I had to say. He was more engaged with my wife's comments and version of events that brought us there. Every time I attempted to speak, he interrupted and instructed me to let her finish.
20 minutes was devoted to her discussing how she felt and providing her interpretations on our issues. I was able to speak for approximately 10 minutes and most of that was me correcting important details that were either overlooked or omitted.
At the 45 minute mark, Dr. Monroe abruptly stopped the session and asked if we wanted to schedule another appointment. I was stunned. I told him that I had barely even said anything and based on how the session went, i really didn't even need to be there.
His response was again, a shocker: "Well, I've got another appointment now, do you want to schedule or not"
In my view, Dr Monroe was extremely uncaring, inattentive, callous and insensitive.
