I recently came to an appointment 21 minutes late, and found another client already seated in Mr. Nevitt's office.  Mr. Nevitt sternly told me "Our appointment was at 4:00!"  He extended 4 fingers of his right hand to dramatize the statement.

Before he closed the door, he said he would text me later about re-scheduling our appointment.  Eight days later, I was still waiting for him to contact me.  During that time, I twice left voice mails apologizing for being late, and asking to re-reschedule.

After eight days, I came to the conclusion that Mr. Nevitt had dropped me.  I called again, this time to ask for referrals to other therapists who might be able and willing to treat me with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming).  I told the receptionist who answered the phone that Mr. Nevitt had abandoned me, and that I was requesting referrals to other therapists.  He called me back shortly thereafter, and said he will text me some referrals when he can find some.

In his office, and in my two voice-mails, I explained to Mr. Nevitt that I had been held unexpectedly late at an earlier appointment at another location, and that I hadn't been able to call because I did not have his number with me.  I don't know exactly when he called the other client who was in his office when I got there at 4:21, but if he had called me first, I would have been able to explain what was going on and been able to have a 30 minute session before my hour was up.

In my opinion, mental health professionals should behave professionally.  Mr. Nevitt's conduct was unfair, unreasonable, and openly angry.  He should have texted me as he said he would, and he should have responded to my voice-mails.  Instead, he left me hanging for eight days, and only answered my call when someone else became involved.  I am very disappointed in the treatment I received from Mr. Nevitt, and feel that clients would do well to chose another therapist.
