Name:Melissa K Brannan
Specialty:Marriage & Family Therapist

My desire is to help individuals, families, and/or couples grow and change in the areas where they feel stuck and unable to cope or move forward. I seek to listen, reflect, and provide practical options when situations feel hopeless or overwhelming.

The approach I take with each client is as unique as they are and based on the therapeutic relationship we develop.  My underlying perspective is that of Bowenian Family Systems Theory, but I utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy, as needed.

As an LMFT, I work with individuals, couples, and families from a unique perspective. My clinical approach is broadened from the traditional focus on the individual to include how the presenting concerns are impacted by relational patterns with a spouse, family, and friends. This holistic approach emphasizes the need for change not just in individuals, but also within support systems surrounding them. This encourages a person, couple, or family to grow in a context that is adapting to accommodate their change.

I provide traditional therapy sessions, group therapy, community workshops and seminars, and professional consultation. I am willing to integrate clients' faith into my treatment planning, case conceptualization, and our discussion within sessions as much as they desire.

I work with ages 5 and up in the following areas of specialization:
Premarital Counseling
Parent/Child Conflict
Anger Management
Marital Enrichment
Family Struggles
Life Transition
Grief and Loss
