As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Paul has successfully helped individuals and families overcome stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment issues, substance abuse, isolation, grief, work and career transitions and much more. Paul emphasizes understanding each person and family as unique and works to not only relieve suffering but to help them foster positive connections in their lives. He emphasizes teaching people valuable tools and skills that they can use in their lives, outside of counseling.

Paul has expertise in general mental health counseling, trauma counseling, family counseling, male issues, substance abuse, career counseling, and general life consultations. Paul is a veteran counselor; throughout his career he has worked with diverse cultural groups and with individuals across the socioeconomic spectrum.

Paul has specialized training in helping individuals and families overcome the effects of trauma. He has an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy) Level-II certification from EMDR-HAP. Paul has specialized training in career counseling from working at Loyola University Chicago's Career Development Center. Paul is nationally certified by Dr. Robert Meyers and Associates as both an ACRA counselor and trainer. ACRA (Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach) has yielded incredible recovery rates, through empirical research, in helping adolescents, young adults, and families overcome substance abuse and the effects of past substance use.

Paul received his masters in Clinical Psychology; Counseling
Specialization from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2007. Paul is licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Hello. I'm looking forward to being a part of your journey toward happiness and health. In the Great Psychotherapy Debate (Wampold, 2001), studies demonstrated that if there are two groups of people with similar problems, those who receive counseling will be better off than 80% of those who do not receive counseling.

Counseling can bring relief, resolution, clarity, freedom, or help you overcome a challenge. My counseling style is encouraging, empowering, nonjudgmental, and thorough. I am trained in many different approaches to the counseling process and I will work to customize a plan that works for you.

Some of my skill set includes the ability to relate to and understand others, utilizing community resources, EMDR therapy, teaching new skills, and forming a genuine therapeutic relationship. Twenty years of clinical research concluded that the most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist.

The counseling process is an investment. My goal is to help you move from where you are to where you want to be. My intention is to help you develop new skills and perspectives that you can use to enhance your life. Let's work together for change.
