Therapy must be a collaborative effort between client and therapist. People are resourceful, capable of self-understanding and self-direction, able to make constructive changes and able to live productive lives. Where we are going is more critical than from where we are coming. I take on the role of helping my clients form a plan detailing what they want and how they plan to get it. I assist my clients to identify unhealthy, negative beliefs and behaviors and replace them with healthy, positive ones. Clients identify both the thoughts and the behaviors that are causing distress and change those thoughts in order to readjust the behavior. I provide techniques to give clients a greater degree of control over negative thinking. In therapy, clients are educated with concrete skills through the provision of instructions, modeling, and performance feedback. Clients are taught that they have the necessary tools to solve problems, transforming them from being passive and helpless to being active, resourceful, and competent.  I guide clients to set realistic solutions with step-by-step goals, practiced in sessions and through homework assignments.  Clients will learn to think for themselves, maximize personal strengths, and acquire cognitive skills and behavior control. In my practices, each individual is viewed as a whole (body/mind/spirit).  Because I am a Certified Health Coach and a Licensed Professional Counselor/National Certified Counselor, my areas of expertise have grown to include clients who have issues with setting goals, weight loss and management, migraines, ADHD, food allergies/sensitivities, physical agility and endurance, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, pain management, hypertension, phobic disorders, relationship problems, and parenting difficulties. I work with clients and families who want to use natural methods for getting well and finding balance in their lives.
