This therapist diagnosed me incorrectly within 15 minutes of meeting me. Diagnosis requires thorough evaluation and is impossible within 15 minutes of meeting someone. When people come to you with their deepest darkest pain- be compassionate. Opening up about their deepest pain and asking for help leaves someone vulnerable and scared. Meet someone there. Be compassionate. Stop talking. Listen. Please. She projected attachment styles onto me that I did not have and would not listen when I disagreed and offered what I actually experience instead. She used big words that I didn't understand so I wasn't following her at first but when I realized she was off track I told her.  She literally said "no that can't be correct" about how I attach to people in the world, and she hardly knew me. How I relate to my experience in the world is mine, and an empathetic provider would listen and acknowledge my experience not invalidate it.  She hijacked our therapy time with suggestions for programs I did not want to do and coerced me into signing a release for her to get medical information from a past provider that I was not comfortable with. I was not allowed to be on the calls, so I have no idea what was actually said. The following session she did not give me time to process, did not stop speaking enough to let me speak or process my feelings, invalidated my experience, and kept suggesting outside coaching help to fix me. I was paying $200/45 minutes for help with that very issue. That should be enough.  I left that session feeling like she lied to me, invalidated my experience, and did not give me time to process. She coerced me into a situation and then left me hanging by rapidly ending our session and not being able to schedule until 2-3 weeks out. I literally came to her with my deepest, darkest most vulnerable relational issue. I've been working on it alone for a while but I needed help. So I got the courage to finally ask. She did not respect my pain or vulnerability at all. She did not sit with me in it. Instead she kept shoving PIVOT therapy with an additional advocate in my face. I told her no over and over and she did not listen. This was a truly awful experience. And I wish I would never have asked for help. If you have some very basic issues, she'd be good. But if you have any vulnerabilities or something you're embarrassed about and need help with I would highly suggest finding someone else.
