I offer a warm and inviting counseling office so you will be able to comfortably share your experiences, pains and struggles and receive the validation and support that you so desperately need and maybe haven’t yet received in your life through counseling and therapy.  I strongly believe in working with clients and families in therapy to find solutions to your unique problems and struggles so that you can grow to have a healthier and happier tomorrow.  Through counseling, I also strive to help clients discover the underlying reasons for current struggles to allow you to have a deeper level of healing and growth and sustained recovery and happiness. I will actively try to explain mental health issues in counseling so that it is understandable and so that you can obtain a new perspective.  I believe that you already have the resources within you to solve your issues and problems and to heal from your past.  My job as your therapist (counselor) is to help you tap into that wealth of undiscovered knowledge and assist you in learning to actively use this new knowledge in your life outside of the counseling office.

I have lived in the Sacramento Valley my entire life and have been practicing therapy in Yuba City since 2007.  I live locally and have a family of my own.  I graduated at the top of my class from California State University, Chico with a Master of Science in Psychology.  I have worked with a wide range of client issues and have worked in many settings and with different populations.  I’m skilled with treating depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD (trauma) and stress and have worked with these clients since I started practicing therapy.  I have extensive experience counseling adolescents and children.  I have counseled troubled youth in the foster care system and have worked with gang-affiliated youth as well.  I also have vast experience with trauma and sexual abuse and have counseled rape survivors and victims of sexual assault and their families through a rape crisis center.  I am trained in crisis counseling and have worked with suicidal individuals through the county mental health system and in multiple settings.  I am very experienced with the LGBTQ+ population and offer LGBTQ+ affirmative counseling.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and I’m also an AATBS Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT).  EMDR is a specialized therapy that has been developed to treat conditions such as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Stress Reduction, Addictions, Sexual/Physical Abuse, Disturbing Memories, etc.  EMDR has been clinically proven to effectively treat these disorders and I have attended seminars and specialized training in this form of therapy.  I also completed an Analytical Review on EMDR in Graduate School and have read well over a hundred articles on this form of therapy.  CBT is another form of therapy that can help clients solve their current problems by looking at the relationships between their cognitions (thoughts/beliefs) and behaviors (what you do) and challenge and make changes in these areas.  CBT has also been proven an effective form of counseling for a myriad of issues presented in therapy.  I actively practice other forms of therapy as well and would be more than happy to share these with you.  I also provide depth counseling and can integrate this into therapy for individuals who want to improve their daily lives and make their lives more fulfilling and meaningful.

If you are interested in counseling, feel free to contact me at (530) 755-7851 or e-mail me at  I look forward to hearing from you.
